Recycling is processing used materials (waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from land filling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emission.
The concept of Green Gene is the 3R policy of GEPIL i.e. Reduse, Re-use and Recycle.
Recycling is an excellent way of saving energy and conserving the environment.
1 recycled tin would save enough energy to power a television for 3 hours. 1 recycled glass bottle would save enough energy to power a computer for 25 minutes. 1 recycled plastic bottle would save enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for 3 hours. 70% less energy is required to recycle paper compared with making it from raw materials.
Recycle symbols are necessary to understand what can be recycled and what not.
Here, you'll find some common recycling symbols you see everyday. Have a look, and know what means what.
If you have any form of e-waste then simply use our Green Gene bin and we'll recycle it.
Don't throw away everything you find rubbish into your ordinary bin. We've put some great looking Green Gene bins around the city to help you out. Click the button below to spot your closest Green Gene bin location!
Electronic wastes in the form of discarded computers, mobiles, TV and other electronic goods have a very small shelf life and very low re-use market potential.
Reduce your generation of e-waste through smart procurement and good maintenance. Reuse still functioning electronic equipment by donating or selling it to someone who can still use it. Recycle those components that cannot be repaired.
The environmentally safe management of wastes is essential for sustaining the industrial development.
GEPIL extends its services and expertise into various forays of waste management by collecting hazardous wastes from industries, treating and disposing them at its various ICHWTSDFs in India.
These ICHWTSDFs are designed, developed, owned and operated by GEPIL.
GEPIL has extended its foray in the field of environmental protection by serving in the field of Municipal Solid waste management. GEPIL has also partnered with a large number of municipal corporations and civic bodies for the same service. It has successfully developed Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Facilities to cater to recyclable demands and keeping the environment green.
GEPIL is in the process of developing Sewage Treatment Plants for over 3 municipal corporations and a large number of townships and residential complexes. Ongoing projects include the development of about 30 MLD STP for the Silvassa Municipal Corporation and two projects in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
